Firefox 2.0

Posted on Thursday 28 December 2006

Firefox 2.0 is now out of beta and is uber cool! It comes ready installed with a few of my favourite ad-ons, so they didn’t need updated and it’s coolest feature has to be the inclusion of a spell-checker! As you type anything, it automatically checks the spelling…much like Microsoft Word does. It underlines misspelled words in red, and a right click will display a list of corrections.

What is rather sad…is that in the dictionary that you download (available in a number of languages - which ones i don’t know or care…i only speak English!)…does not even have ‘Firefox’ in it! Needless to say, it’s just been added and it’ll stop underlining it now.

Yet another technology to make our brains think less and remember less. I dare say that in the next few years i won’t even have to type…i’ll just have primal thoughts and everything else will be automated!
