Far too boring to make me read all of it, i noticed a couple of interesting points in the beginning.

The twelve days of Christmas are in fact the twelve days after Christmas, not before!

Also, rather than being a silly song…the words apparently came from the 16th century and the religious wars that took place in the UK. Each day’s gift has hidden meanings which help to convey the basic facts about Christianity! True love for instance refers to God himself!

It’s been a bit of a party here for the last few days.

It all started a few days ago with a bunch of milkingmaids coming in…with cows!! The next day a load of ladies came in dancing…and drinking fresh milk (i think it went straight to their heads!). By the time they settled down, a whole heap of leaping lords came in, only to be spurred on the following day by even more by a fleet of pipers blowing their little hearts out! (Needless to say, i did try and sort them out with a few new piper sporrans at a good price!).

Because there’s no post tomorrow (Christmas day), i’ve been sent my twelfth parcel a little early. I’ve not opened it yet…but it’s very very big…and is making a lot of noise. Sounds like someone’s playing the drums…perhaps more than one person! I’ll be able to form a full all-singing, all-dancing variety show for New Year!

Although, i am a little worrie about finding enough water to keep these rather large birds swimming! I mean…did they really think about that before they bought them!!

I guess i could put 2 in the bath, one in the kitchen sink…one might fit in the sink downstairs…but we’ll have to work out a rotation system for the rest of them! Don’t even want to think about the mess they’re going to make!

I hope they don’t mind sharing the bath…swans are rather dangerous if they get annoyed!

Partridges, doves, hens, it’s all getting a bit overcrowded. However, these geese should pop out some tasty eggs for my breakfast everyday. All i need now is a juicy little porker that will provide the two rashers on the side!

I’m going to feed them all up nice and plump…and then sell them off – free range Christmas bird anyone??

Well, actually, not that lucky at all! I can’t get 1 minute’s peace in my house without some daft bird calling me to ask i own the house and how much the mortgage is, if i need new windows, doors, flashings or gutters, or if i want a new mobile phone!

I kinda whish these annoying birds would stop calling!

French Hen

I mean…who cares where the hen comes from? Do you? In fact…if you were burgled by a hen and you had to select the culprit in a line-up…do you think you could really choose the French one (you know he was French from ze akcent) when he stands next to a German hen, a Vietnamese hen and a Bolivian hen?

Personally…featherless, skinless, roasted and stuffed with herbs and lemon is the way i like my hens…and i don’t care if it’s French, Spanish or Gambian! Plus…3 would make a rather large feast- sounds like a dinner party to me!

However…Christmas is in the middle of winter! What are turtle doves doing here in the middle of winter? They leave around September for far warmer climates. While their gentle purring could sooth even the toughest man into a gentle snooze…they’d probably never shut up and would definately shit everywhere. A bird is for life…not just for Christmas!

Despite our tree being no more than 3 metres tall, i would be very surprised if i did see a partridge in it – not because partridges don’t live in my garden…but because they can’t fly! How would it get up there i ask??

However, it does make me a little hungry. A partridge in a pear tree could provide a 3 course meal! Cook the fat to make a fake fois gras, roast the bird for a juicy sunday dinner and make a pear crumble for dessert! Yummy…
